Bali Botanicals

digital drawing of Balinese tropical plants

Wonder what all of these plants are called? The translation of the top right leaves is butterfly leaves.

The first week of 2019 started off relaxing in Bali, Indonesia which was a new country for me to visit.

To some, Bali may be all about partying and knock off “designer” bags. Our holiday was totally chilled, in fact I don’t think I had a drink even whilst celebrating my milestone birthday!

I didn’t need an extra buzz from booze thanks to blissful days in Nusa Dua’s Revivo Wellness Resort followed by a juice cleanse at Blue Karma Resort in Ubud.

The crazy rush at the end of the year was washed away by the ocean, massaged away at the resort and cleansed away by the detox.

As January is Bali’s rain season, we experienced a few rainy days which was a perfect excuse to relax rather than rushing around attempting to experience as much as possible of what the place has to offer.

Perhaps thanks to the rain, Ubud’s jungle area was LUSHED. Thick and deep greeneries blessed with fruits and vegetables enveloped the resort and protected us from the hustle and bustle of Ubud city center.

Inspired by the surrounding peaceful nature, I have drawn every day and I have kept it up nearly a week back home.

This is a digital version I drew back home of a drawing I drew at Ubud’s resort on the last day:

Drawing every day makes the lines freer and I’m sure the more practice, the better drawer I will become.

One of 2019 goals is to improve my drawing so watch this space!
