Messiness leads to happiness

2019 Mother’s Day card is this colourful, messy, colour pencil doodling illustration with a love heart in the middle (FYI this was the 2018 version of Mother’s Day card).

I wanted to visually show how I appreciate my mother for letting me be free and creative and also for accepting me for who I am – someone who may not necessarily follow the line straight or fit snug into a hard-edged box.

By going out of the confined space, I think I was able to find things that I enjoy doing, found places that I love and people whom I adore.

Only through the crisscrossing and looping around that I found what I love and I think I was able to express it through this illustration.
