Advice. People give it to you even without being asked and internet is filled with advice and facts and knowledge.

With internet flooded with information, it is also the perfect space for storing information by simply copying and pasting statistics and quotes for the rainy day.

However, saving it up in the cloud doesn’t allow us to retain all the facts that we copied and pasted (just like pinning all the beautiful clothes on Pinterest doesn’t mean it’s in my wardrobe to wear).

“…writing things by hand helps you learn better and infuses them with meaning.”
(Podcast excerpt from episode 5 Austin Klein guest speaking on Hurry Slowly.)

When we focus by manually writing things down, information gets stored in your mind because you’re actively taken in that information.

That’s why I started to write interesting quotes in my ideas book after listening to podcasts such as  The Tim Ferriss Show and Hurry Slowly. However, I kept copying and pasting when I listened to The Property Couch (as I used their knowledge in spreadsheet etc), until now.

Their episode with guest speaker, Jaemin Frazer who is a life coach to one of the presenters, had nothing to do with properties but about mindset.

In a nutshell, the summary is this:

1. be clear as to what you want
2. work with yourself – it’s not about self-discipline, it’s self-permission where heart and mind works well together
3. state management – not time management. match the state to the outcome
4. internally reference not external. meet all the needs yourself. i am enough.
5. let go of judgment

I was pumped listening to it and afterward! Easily actionable and their positivity is so infectious.

To ensure that I don’t forget these learnings, I decided to unpack some of the key highlights for me by drawing some of the things they talked about.

1. Go where the life is

This quote is a good compass to direct life.  When the motivation is money, power or seeking approval from others, I don’t think you feel fulfilled even when you reach the goal.  Instead, when the focus on passion and a sense of purpose, the driver is from the heart that boosts you to achieve a better result and are happier.
This simple quote is a great way to frame a positive mindset and a very simple rule to follow – Go where the life is!

My interpretation of one of the many ‘golds’ from the podcast, Property Couch.

2. Rocketship to Mars

Their closing comment stuck with me as I’ve never heard of this fact:

Rocket ship to Mars is only 3% on the right track. The rest is a constant check with the goal and adjust. Make constant course correction results in each correction being minute.

After being clear on what you want in life, check how you’re tracking to your goal daily or even multiple times a day.  By keeping the goal always on sight, the goals will be achieved!

I am yet to draw some of the other insightful quotes but wanted to share them to spread the positivity:

  • Responsibility and choice: Own your story and not blame it on others. Be responsible for where you are and your actions because it gives your choice to make a difference in your life.
  • Be clear on what do you want:  Once you get it out there, you are responsible to achieve that.
  • Reset back into the state you want to be in by affirmation, type of clothes or certain action (you may see tennis players touching their necklace every time before they serve!). The quicker you can realign your state, the more focused you will be to achieve your goals.

I got a lot out the episode and many podcasts that I have started to listen to and I hope you will too!

I have listed a lot of their key advice here but highly recommend listening to Jaemin Frazer on The Property Couch, enjoy!
