Since my last post, I have being a humble student.
After dipping my toes in online learning with Domestika, I have dived into creative online learning with Skillshare.
I have enjoyed a range of practical classes offered including drawing, digital art, photography, painting as well as business side of learning including increasing instagram follows, how to get your book published and productivity classes.
The classes I have enjoyed and learnt a lot
Art Classes:
- Sketchbook illustration class by Samantha Dion Baker
- I learnt to collage things from the day including a part of tickets and wrapping papers into the sketches.
- Keep the sketch book at all times to increase the opportunity to draw.
- Travel map class by Mike Lowery
- I learnt about keeping the color palette into minimum to tie the artwork together into a cohesive look.
- Landscape watercolor class by Rosalie Haizlett
- I learnt adding different heaviness to lines which adds movement hence liveliness to the artwork
- Adding a touch with red to draw attention to key areas.
- Limited color palette class by Liz Kohler Brown
- How to select a cohesive color palette using the color wheels on Procreate
- Painting with colored pencils by Kendyll Hillegas
- I learnt the amazing world of painting with color pencils! This is such a fun and beautiful painting method that I have never tried before.
- A touch with white adds so much realness to an artwork
Productivity Classes:
- Productivity workshop by the founder of Skillshare, Michael Karnjanaprakorn
- Review and plan for each week by breaking big tasks into chunks :3 wins for the week, 3 priorities for the week and 3 tasks to complete each day.
- Simple Productivity (Essentialism) by Greg McKeown
- The essential thing is to keep the essential thing, essential.
Through these classes, I have gained new techniques, new challenges and discovered amazing artists to follow and to be inspired. It has given me projects to draw and express myself in a new way.
